Is it a bad idea to use a cord that is coiled?
It can be if you are using too much power through the cord. We have charts on our instructions explaining the limitations
you should use. The product is also embossed with a warning not to exceed 1⁄2 of the cord rating when used coiled.
If you are not sure of your rating or power draw, we recommend you extend the cord fully before use. We also recommend that all RV power supply cords be extended fully
before use.
Does the cord create a magnetic field when it’s coiled up?
No. Because there are two conductors in the cord, one nullifies the induction of the other. Induction would only occur if the cord had only one conductor.
Is there anything I can do to extend the life of my cords?
Cords operate more easily when coated with a thin layer of F21 Turtle Wax Super Protectant before storing in your Cordpro®. Additionally, this provides ultraviolet protection, which will increase the life of your cords and hoses.
Can I put two cords on one unit?
You could, but we do not recommend making electrical connections inside the unit.
Does it matter which way you wind your cords?
Yes. Cord ends wound in the same direction both extend at the same time when pulled from the unit. Cords wound in the opposite direction must be unwound separately, one at a time. This is, however, the best winding method for use with hoses because it provides a smooth passage through the divider to prevent kinking of the hose.
